Almost nine in ten employees who volunteer in community projects as part of their firm say it boosts staff morale, according to the Community Service Volunteers (CSV) Make a Difference Day.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is backing CSV's campaign, which is encouraging companies to enjoy better relations with their community through employee volunteering.
CSV's Make a Difference Day will be taking place across the country on the 28th October, with activities taking place two weeks either side.
David Frost, director general of the BCC, said: "Many companies and the people they employ are quietly improving their communities in many different ways.
"Firms find that volunteering can benefit the employee, the communities in which they are based, and also their own business," he added.
